2025 SJCNBNA Annual Scholarship
Scholarships range in amounts and are presented at the Annual Scholarship event.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a member of NBNA and a member of South Jersey Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association, Inc...
- Candidate must be currently enrolled in a nursing program (LPN/LVN, ADN, RN-BSN, BSN, Masters, Doctorate) and in good scholastic standing at the time of application.
- Candidate must have a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant must have at least one full year of school remaining after the scholarship deadline.
Must Provide:
- Official Transcript(s) from an accredited School of Nursing
- Two-page / 500-word maximum Personal Statement / Essay
- Two (2) letters of recommendation (1) from Dean/Faculty member (must include enrollment and expected date of graduation), and (2) from Chapter President/Vice President/ (validating the application information is correct)
- Resume or CV (5-page maximum)
- Letter from the Registrar verifying enrollment and expected graduation date.
- A clean/clear professional headshot.
- Additional items to accompany the application in support of the candidate's eligibility and desirability may include documented evidence of:
- participation in student nurse activities, and
- involvement in the African American Community, i.e., letters, news clippings, awards, certificates
Personal Statement Instructions (REQUIRED)
Each applicant must submit a personal statement/essay of 500 words or two pages, double-spaced maximum responding to the following statement: "An NBNA Scholarship will allow me to" (discuss career goals, area of focus, and how you will improve the health and social conditions of African Americans).

TRANSCRIPT MUST ALSO BE RECEIVED AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS ON OR BEFORE March 31, 2024, BY 5:00pm (EST).
Use of Scholarship Funds
Scholarship funds can only be used for current or future tuition and fees (unless otherwise specified by the scholarship sponsor). Funds cannot be used for balances from a previous term before being selected for the scholarship.

ATTENDANCE AT THE ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP/AWARDS CEREMONY
SJCNBNA prefers the presence of all scholarship recipients at the Annual Scholarship/Awards Ceremony to receive their awards in person, however travel funds are not available.
